IIP - Individual Investor Programme for Maltese Citizenship

 

 

The beautiful and picturesque  Maltese Islands are most definitely one of the most attractive tourist destinations and investment opportunities in the World.  With the recent launch of the Individual Investor Programme set to become a part of the Maltese Citizenship Act which is being packaged to attract the right caliber individuals, Belair Property has been working consistently with our overseas partners to assist in making these specific advantages more accessible. The Maltese Government wants to attract individuals from around the world, who will be sure to have a positive influence upon Malta’s future investment.

Individual Investor Programme Requirements

To obtain citizenship in Malta, the Individual Investor Programme requires individuals to adhere to the following conditions:

Make a contribution of €650,000 which will go towards     financing a National Development Fund;

Purchase property to the minimum value of €350,000; the property (or substitute) must be retained for 5 years; or, lease a property for which the minimum annual rental must exceed €16,000;

Hold a minimum of €150,000 in Malta Government bonds which must be maintained for a period of 5 years;

An additional contribution of €25,000 is required for a spouse and for each child under the age of 18;

The application may include children between the ages of 18 and 26 years, if they are financially dependent on the main applicant and unmarried. In those cases, the additional contribution is set at €50,000 for each such adult dependent;

Parents over the age of 55 can also be included in the application as dependents, if they are living with and are fully supported by, the main applicant. In this case as well, an additional contribution of €50,000 is required per person;

Due Due diligence fees are also payable for all applicants:

·         €7,500 for the main applicant

·         €5,000 for spouses, adult dependents and parents

·         €3,000 each for children between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age

Applications may only be submitted by Authorised Agents of Identity Malta.The successful applicants will be granted citizenship by means of a certificate of naturalization, after having undergone a thorough due diligence process. The applicant must commit him/herself to proof of residence in Malta.
